Hello Hopkins lovers, welcome to the new Hopkins blog. I face a little conundrum, and I’m hoping you can help. I’ve been asked by a publishing company to suggest revisions for their multi-page entry on Hopkins. Most are easy enough, but at one point they begin a section on “Principal Works” by listing three and only three poems. (I checked and they limit it to three for all poets.) Personally I do no at all agree with the three they have chosen. But before sending in my three I wanted some perspective from you. Just for the fun of it, what three poems would YOU choose as Hopkins’s “principal works”? If you want to add a few words about why, that’s fine but not necessary. Let the conversation begin!
